Our GFDW report to to the NFDW Convention

The National Federation has asked for an update on our recent activities and here's what I sent in.

The Georgia Federation of Democratic Women has had an exciting year. We have increased our number of chapters and are up to nine active chapters at this time, with two more chapters forming in Metro Atlanta and Savannah/Chatham County.
A successful Fall state meeting (2009) was held in Fayetteville (Fayette County) and an equally lively Spring state meeting was just held in Duluth (Gwinnett County) on May 1, 2010. Thanks to Fayette County president Cheryl Williams for her team's hard work.
Our next big meeting will be held in Perry (Houston County, mid-state) on October 23, 2010 and will include a rally and hot dog roast to which the major Democratic candidates in Georgia will be invited.
A number of GFDW members are running for office:
Sen. Gail Buckner -- Southern Crescent Chapter -- Secretary of State
Elizabeth Johnson -- Bulloch County -- state house district 157
RuthE Levy -- Cobb County -- state house district 45
Sharon Howard -- Middle Georgia Chapter -- house district 136
Fenika Miller -- Middle Georgia Chapter -- house district 145
Mary Chatfield -- Forsyth County -- County Commissioner, Dist. 1
Dr. Camille Fareri -- Forsyth County -- Board of Education, Dist. 2
